Come, gather round the fireplace for a good story....
Paris 1868, midwinter, as howling winds rapidly transformed into a terrifying blizzard, a weary traveler trepidly approached the famed city of culture.
Already as a girl, Adele Isaac had always enjoyed singing, but Calais held little opportunity for the aspiring young girl. Her dream, to stand in front of a crowd and wow them with her vocal capabilities, however, in Calais, her dreams were repeatedly mocked and derided.
But, she refused to be shackled by her family and neighbors. One night in the middle of the fierce European winter, she slipped out of her parent's home with just a small satchel of clothes and food, with no money she began the journey. Occasionally a generous coachman gave her a short hitch, providing brief respite from the biting cold, but at night, no inn would provide her a bed without money. After 4 days of suffering, she began her approach into Paris, as the storm raged. Her food had long ran out and she was now subsiding on handouts from generous peasants.
Her strength waning, she approached the first large building, the blizzard whipping her face raw, her gloves worn through leaving her chapped hands exposed to the elements, she pushed open the door and just collapsed. His heart stirred by pity, the proprietor brought the unconscious girl inside, warmed her up, and prepared her a hot cup of tea. She drank the team and collapsed into the loveseat in the lobby. After 12 hours of fitful sleep, she stirred and looked up at the clock smiling at her, 10 past 10, an omen of good things to come... The rest of the story, as they say... is history.
Alas, despite many efforts we have been unable to verify this legend, but rumor has it that this clock we have for sale, is a true-to-scale recreation of that significant clock, available for the benefit of Adele fans worldwide.
Whether this rumor is true or not, we will never know, but this clock will grace the wall of any Adele fan and add the finishing touch to any person adding the finishing touches to a well-designed room.
